Umbrella Central and Sentient HR Empower Ontario’s Child Care Community with Comprehensive Salary Survey

Toronto, May 2025

Umbrella Central Day Care Services (Umbrella), in partnership with Sentient HR Services Inc. (Sentient), is pleased to announce the launch of the Annual Childcare Salary Survey for Ontario. This essential initiative continues its mission to foster fairness, transparency, and competitive compensation practices within the childcare sector.

The survey provides valuable insights to childcare leaders across Ontario, including over 1,000 centres in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA), Durham, Peel, York, and Eastern Ontario. Childcare supervisors consistently use this extensive resource to benchmark salaries, benefits, and staffing practices, ensuring their compensation packages are equitable and attractive to quality educators.

Donna Ferguson, Administrator at Umbrella, emphasized the survey’s critical role, stating, “This tool has become indispensable for childcare centres looking to make informed decisions regarding compensation, vacation entitlements, health benefits, and overall employee satisfaction.”

Gregory Dixon, Director of Business Development at Sentient, further commented, “Our collaboration aims to support childcare supervisors in creating competitive and fair compensation structures, thereby attracting and retaining top talent in the field. We are committed to enhancing transparency and equity across Ontario’s childcare industry.”

To maximize participation, Umbrella and Sentient have introduced an enhanced survey experience through a secure, easy-to-use online platform at www.childcaresurvey.ca. This intuitive portal significantly simplifies the data submission process, making it convenient for busy childcare centre leaders.

Participating centres will gain exclusive access to the comprehensive 2025 Salary Survey report, which offers detailed analyses of regional salary trends, insightful data visualizations, and key insights into current industry standards.

The survey portal will be open from May 6, 2025, until June 30, 2025. All Ontario childcare centres are encouraged to participate and contribute valuable insights to shape the industry’s compensation practices.
